Mataram, 24 July 2025 – The Faculty of Da’wa and Communication Sciences (FDIK) at UIN Mataram officially launched The 4th IDEA (International Seminar on Da’wah and Development Studies) under the theme: “Digital Da’wa and Islamic Communication Transformation in the Technology Era: A Holistic Approach for Social Welfare.” The event took place at Aston Inn Mataram and welcomed scholars, researchers, practitioners, and students from across Indonesia and abroad.

The seminar began with a report from the Seminar Chair, Dr. Mira Mareta, M.A., who emphasized the seminar’s importance in addressing the evolving challenges of Islamic communication in the digital era.
The seminar featured prominent keynote speakers, including:
- Miftahur Ridho (University of Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom)
- Prof. Dr. Pajar Hatma Indra Jaya, M.Si (UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta)
- Dr. Bibi Jan Md Md Ayyub (Founder of Club HEAL, NOCPF, and BTC, Singapore)
- Prof. Dr. Ahyar, M.Pd (Faculty of Da’wa and Communication, UIN Mataram)
In addition to the keynotes, 14 panel speakers presented papers under diverse subthemes such as digital ethics, cybersecurity in Islamic da’wa, youth mental health, Islamic values in online behavior, and ethical leadership in da’wa institutions.
Dean Remark

Dean of FDIK UIN Mataram, Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Saleh, M.A., stated a warm welcome to all speakers and participants. He highlighted the urgency of embracing digital transformation within Islamic da’wa, stressing the importance of equipping students and faculty with not only technological skills but also spiritual wisdom. “This theme is not just timely—it’s essential. We must prepare our da’wah to be relevant, ethical, and human-centered in a digital world,” he noted.
Opening Remarks from University Rector

The Rector of UIN Mataram, Prof. Dr. H. Masnun Tahir, M.Ag, delivered the official opening remarks, stating that the theme was highly contextual and aligned with the shifting demands of Islamic education and communication today. “Academic institutions must no longer stay in their ivory towers. We are called to engage society directly with wisdom, justice, and impactful presence,” he said.
Da’wa in the Digital Age
The seminar reflects FDIK UIN Mataram’s strong commitment to addressing both the opportunities and threats posed by rapid technological advancement. From AI-generated misinformation to digital addiction and content ethics, the discussions underscored the need for new holistic strategies rooted in Islamic values.

Participants also witnessed the launching of a book titled “Merawat Tradisi Lisan: Sakeco Kemarin, Hari Ini, dan Masa Depan” written by M. Saleh Ending and concluded the opening session with a du’a recitation led by the Vice Dean III, marking a spiritually uplifting start to the international seminar.
